As title really.

Just wondering what everyone uses on the road in their BEC.

I've done a search and came up with with a few links, but could do with a few more ideas.

Windflector and bolle safety glasses worked for me.
the only time i wore a lid was for my sva as it hammered down.

Caberg-Trip Tova flip front for when it's really cold or wet (most of the time). Cap and sunnys rest of time. Must say it makes you feel a bit safer with a lid on though.....

i don't suppose it matters much for a car on the road (ie not a race car or road bike) so any bike helmet i guess. you can get some pretty decent bike ones approved for bike racing pretty cheap.

i seem to remember someone saying there is a difference in their design though. air flow over them or something

I've just got my new crash helmet.... Worried it's a bit of the tight side. Only just but wonder if I need to get a slightly bigger one.....

i,ll be using my race series AGV, quite a light lid, good quality & not too much wind noise.
being "in" a car behind a screen rather than on a bike then wind noise thru helmet won,t be an issue, whereas weight of the lid is, you,d be surprised how much strain it puts on your neck with a heavy lid, get a light , quality lid.

I'll be getting a decent helmet when my Tiger is done, i had a scare on the way home from work one evening, a scaffold knuckle joint came from between the rear tyres of an artic - we were both doing around 60 and it hit the front bumper of my laguna so hard it went through the bumper, bent the cross member and got wedged between the block and the rad!

I dread to think what would have happend had i been in a 7 - its definately convinced me to use a helmet when mine is finished.

I have a cheapish nitro bike helmet. The usual caveats for bikes don't apply. In a seven without a screen it only serves to keep flies and stones from hitting you in the face and to keep the wind out on cold days. You aren't likely to fall off a car. If you're doing racing and are therefore more likely to roll it, a decent helmet is probably a must.

Shuberth S1 is my fave at the moment for both the 7 and the motorbike.
quiet, light and very comfy plus the bonus of the tinted inner visor.

Used it in a recent tour of spain in tempertures the very hot side of 38 c without issue.

The 100mph wind may have helped keep the old head cool though!!!!

I bought an end of line, last season Shark helmet half price, a lot comfier than the AVG I had before that.

I would go and buy the cheapest ACU approved bike helmet in the January sales.

When it is warm I only wear a pair of sun glasses as the shape of the MNR bonnet plus a wind deflector diverts all fly's, I've not had one hit me yet.
If the weather is a tad bit cold or looks like it may rain I wear my old Arai motorbike helmet. It is a bit past it and I wouldn't trust it on a bike but for the car it is fine.
I would have thought any cheap helmet would be ok as long as it is cmfortable.

There's only a short wind deflector on my Indy, so I tend to use a lid if I'm going more than a couple of miles. With a pair of ear plugs & a balaclava that Santa brought, it's almost as comfy as the tintop.

I looked at car race lids, but the price:quality was daft compared to that of bike lids, so I shopped around for the lightest, strongest (non-polyprop!) helmet I could find. Because of my large bonce, the only one that fit comfortably and was light enough was an Arashi. Obscure, but v. light - apparently, it's kevlar & CF based.

Arai RX7 Corsair for me. Got a good deal of t'internet. Very comfy and quite light. Tried on loads at a bike shop first though.

I went for 1 of these helmets fits nice and is a car 1.

Well I'm hoping mine will wear in nicely I got out my tape measure and got the size indicated so hopefully it's just me getting used to the helmet and the helmet getting used to me

arai astro j for me cost 300 but well worth it, ben most helmets have changeable cheek pads, i need some thinner ones as i end up biting my cheeks

I have a gloss black Arai Condor. Very soft padding, always been frim but comfortable and has a gold sticker which i think makes it allowable for track days. I use it mainly for karting over the last 3 years and never had a problem. Think it was £175 from a motorbike specialist hein-gericke as i said i was a member of the bec owners club and they knocked it down from £200

I had a very cheap "BOX" helmet when i use to track my Clio V6 and go on track days with friends. was something like £40 and did the job fine.

When I ordered the Indy I got a White Simpson Outlaw from their Bandit series. Got an iridium visor for it. Its a fantsticly comfy lid and I am very happy with it. Shipped it over from the states and it cost me £230 all in inc the visor (£75 in the UK) and a very nice kit bag. (not just a rubish thin draw string bag

When my car is finished, I intend on using my motocross helmet minus the peak, but using my goggles.
