All..
I will be changing my petrol tank next month for one with a larger capacity. Whats the best material to go for? it needs to be both strong or light
should I be looking at 1mm stainless or alloy? what is everyone else using?
Mine's alloy. Not sure on the thickness... Much better than steel (will go rusty eventually, heavy etc etc)...
mine's alloy too. nice and light
alloy very time
Don't touch the plastic welded ones - they spring leaks......
Try Joe (aka, welderman). He's done a few.
adrian
the plastic ones sprung leaks due to the wrong plastic welding rod being used.
This was fixed and some are holding up quite nicely. the issue now is if you want to do your IVA you need a cert saying its something or other.
I'm probably going to go 1.2mm steel due to the fact i've got it and i want it this week.
Steel only rusts if you've got very little fuel in it as the vapour from the steel stops it from rusting (so i've been led to believe).
Ours is made from 2mm aluminium.

What alloy thickness have people used?
