How to fit a prop shaft?!
B120WNY - 2/11/10 at 09:33 PM

Evening Guys,

Ive been trying to fit a sierra prop onto my Mac#1, and it wont fit unless the prop is split. Its looking like I need to remove the flanged face that goes onto the diff. Its 110mm dia, and the opening down the tunnel is only 90mm.

However prop doesnt seem to have "normal" circlips, anyone have any ideas on how to split the prop and fit the damn thing!?!?

Many thanks in advance.. )

What about unbolting the dif on a trolley jack and just move it back and down a bit, would that give you enough room to jiggle the prop in form above?

Cheers

Rich

AS Rich says above, could you not remove the diff and slide it in from the rear??

You dont want to split the u/j's as youl never get them back together in situ. You shouldnt have to either.

Ive tried both, to slide in from the front is a no go because the dia. of the rear plate that bolts onto the diff.
From the rear is the same, the mount is wider than the chassis forming the tunnel, doesnt seem to fit in any way other than splitting!

Il give the guys a call in the morning

Definately something not right if it's that tight. Is it too long ?
