Welding Gas

Best source of a decent bottle of MIG welding gas in the Reading Area?

Don't do a lot of welding so ideally deposit rather than monthly rental.

I have a Hobbyweld 15%

A refill is £43 but the first cylinder will have a (almost) refundable deposit on top.

I get mine from a local motor factor who is open on Sundays.
Worth thinking about as for amateur use, i.e. working at weekends, this is going to be the very time you run out.

Another vote for Hobbyweld from me. I probably would never have guessed how long it would take me to get through the bottle I have, so pleased it is just a fixed deposit for the 'hire' of the bottle.

OK.. So I was looking at Hobbyweld either from Harringtons or MPD.

Cheers for the independent confirmation.

MPD in Winchester (Hampshire) do welding gas (might be Hobbyweld, but I've not used MPD or Hobbyweld).

Using my Winchester postcode and the search system on the Hobbyweld website it puts up Andover Patio Centre as the closest to me (not Reading I know so probably worth searching using your own postcode).

The other place I've used before is Basingstoke Welding Supplies. Not too far from Reading, but please phone him before visiting. He's a one man business and not always there so check before travelling!
