Fitting Rear Wings
Dave Bailey - 12/3/09 at 12:02 PM

I'm about to first fix my rear wings tonight... The thing is how much clearance should I give to the tyre to make sure the tyre doesn't rub... Basically it is down to the suspension travel I suppose so again what woiuld be the typical amount of travel?

thanks
Dave B

what is the travel on your suspension at the softest setting? get that figure and work from that

I'd have thought that would have been in the manual, you could phone the company up or look at their cars on the site for comparison. Tbh it looks like you havent much choice as the wings just follow the shape of the body

I'd put some wooden blocks on the tyre, take the spring off and set it at that height. Size of the block - I'd guess at 1" if you're sure this is the biggest tyre you're ever going to fit.

Surely you can just fit the rear arches so that the front and rear edges are level with the bodywork?

Yup. Level with the bodywork is traditional

I agree with the others, front and rear of arch level with bottom of bodywork and evenly spacedoff the wheel front and back.
