any one know how to clean up my ally floor pan,its all stained from a battery acid leak.
thanks.
i think lots and lots of water is the best way isn't it?
An alkali (mix up washing/soap powder and water) to neutralise the acid?
Then just scrap off the corrosion?
Just a guess!
Cheers,
James
hot water and bicarb. or ammonia.
water and toothpaste
Anything alkali
^^^ you peeps are quick.
wot they say, an alkali. common household chemicals that are alkali are sodium bicarbonate (baking soda NOT baking power), soda crystals - very
aggressive or soap - mildly alkaline.
Don't get too enthusiastic with the caustic soda - it eats aluminium!
If it's still wet then alkali to neutralise as ^^^.
If it's dry and you've already wiped it off with water then I think you're looking at etched aluminium and I don't think
there's much you can do except try and polish it out or paint it.
MILK
Milk is the perfect neutraliser for battery acid. Scrub the area with milk and a clean rag, then wash off with soap and water.
