As a guide, could people tell me the height of their windscreen?
I'm guessing 490mm - 500mm, but when I sit in the car with a tape measure it seems very high...
I cant just measure it now, but i would say the westfields is less than that.
- Maybe more like 300mm even. From bonnet height to the top of the frame.
Daniel
I was thinking about the height of the glass frame itself, rather than the height above the scuttle.
(Yes, I should have been more specific in my question!)
why dont you caome over this afternoon (after 3pm) and measure mine
also have a spare glass somewhere.
Ditch
Now that sounds like a plan! Maybe see you later on...
304 mm from top to bottom of frame. That is 12" in old money. Uncle Ron approved. As we know, he never made any mistakes. Also the height of
Keith Tanner's.

Same for mine David. If your going to make the frame yourself it may pay to think about how you would attach a hood if you decide to go that route. Tenax fasteners work but do allow water between the frame and the hood even with a seal. Suspect a channel to slide the front of the hood into would be better?
i was thinking of using an L shaped channel for the hood. i was going to bend the angle to the shape of the screen and then glue and stitch this to
the hood material. the hood would be held in place with bonnet type clips (small as i can get) down onto the screen support.

Now that I've sat in Ditch's car I can see why I'm confused! He's got a MK, and the bonnet and scuttle are much taller than my
Book ones. If I put a 300mm screen on my car I'll be looking almost straight at the top rail of the screen! OK, that's a bit of an
exaggeration, but I'd certainly be looking through the top 25% of the glass.
Never mind... I have a cunning plan...

Lower the seat through the floor?
I can see out of the middle of my screen OK , can't imagine why you have a problem? There are some advantages of being a short arse!.. Are you going to Stoneleigh David? your more than welcome to try mine for size if the seat will go back enough.

No - I'm still thinking about a folding screen - this would have a raised 'pedestal' to hold the wiper boxes, so the whole thing would be a few inches higher (I'm thinking of the way they used to do it on the vintage cars). This would be 2 or 3 inches high, so a 12" screen would be just right.
It's all just a pipe-dream so far, so don't hold me to anything!
I'm still working on my front wing supports, so this issue won't be tackled for a while...
