Chaps
I bought myself a new spraygun last year (for a tenner!) and am shortly going to have a go at bodywork.
Gun is made by GAV (Italy) and has a 1.5 nozzle on it.
I'm going to use cellulose as I think it's best for a "beginner" (done quite a lot of painting but not with proper equipment) ie
easier to fix cockups
What sort of pressure should airline be, and any useful tips (air temp etc) much appreciated.
Will be spraying in well vented (proper venting extractors) reasonably large room!
Thanks
Simon
It should be documented with the gun. The one I use sounds similar and it is rated at 50psi max at 6cfm. It will depend what you are spraying etc.
Make sure you get a spec sheet with the paint and it will tell you the thinners and viscosity to use. It's easier to work to a percentage if you
don't have the cups to time the paint with.
yours, Pete.
Pete,
Gun came with no fittings or instruction - just in a plastic bag!
Sounds like it may not have been such a bargain

Simon, I use a variety of paints/polyester resins in my spray guns, normally throw paint out at 35- 50 Psi at the feed from the compressor, a good
hint would be to make sure u have a water-trap in line on the hose to prefilter the air supply before u get water in the paint pot I think Haynes
still do a bodywork/paint manual a dekko at that would be a worthwhile read.

no expert but done a bit
when mixing i always use a steel rule
measure your paint in mm and that will
give you a farely acurate mix rate for
your thinners it will tell you on the spec sheet ask at your paint supplier
35psi for a gravity gun, 45psi for a syphon gum, use antibloom thinners, good quality masking tape. Your results should be good
Cheers Chaps,
What do we think of Ducatti Jubilee Red.
Or matt black all over!
