adam1985 - 11/5/09 at 01:36 PM

ive just been a demolition and reclaim yard and they have got 4-5 new sheets of what looks like galv steel about 1-1.5 mm thick and they are about a meter square would this be any good for the 7 floor?

Sounds perfect

yes; beware that welding galvanised steel is very bad for your health - its the zinc.

think you'd pay a lot more for new steel from somewhere like metal supermarkets. sounds like a good deal to me

Is it corrugated?

theconrodkid - 11/5/09 at 01:46 PM

you seen the weight of that stuff? and dont forget nasty fumes if you have to cut it with an angry grinder as well

adam1985 - 11/5/09 at 01:48 PM

no its not coragated i picked it up and it didnt feel to heavy

iank - 11/5/09 at 02:47 PM

1 to 1.6mm won't be too heavy, it's what was recommended in the original book.

Beware of the 'boing' effect though

£4.50 per m^2 is cheap.
