I knwo people have different ways of making theirs and mine really didn't work so i am looking for a bit of inspiration (visual aids would also be nice )
hi, i have a fibre glass one for sale, if you want it? ben

The way I did mine was to draw a line around the bonnet side of the nosecone onto a piece of wood wide enough for the scuttle.
I then expanded the shape till it was scuttle sized - it's a bit of artistic licence as you can just enlarge it, as it'll be far too tall.
Obviously it needs to be higher than nosecone.
I then cut that shape from the wood, and put it in place on the car in its correct position.
I then took another piece of wood (the dash panel if you like) and placed it where it was going to go, and at the right angle (ie sloping forward).
I then got a long stick with a pen on the end, and scribed a line holding the "non-pen end" on the nosecone, resting the long stick on the
front part of scuttle (piece of wood) and scribing a line onto the dash piece of wood.
Now it's all a bit vague, but iirc I then transfered these templates onto some 5mm mdf, and cut slots where the lines where. Then I got them both
lined up relatively and slotted a piece of thin ally between them, greased it all up (as it's besically become a female mould) and laminated.
Demoulded one scuttle.
Easy - took about 2 hours iirc

Or how not to!
Simon - Is your engine side of the scuttle wood then?

speedy,
No, it's all fibreglass, just use the mdf and ally as the mould.
Unfortunately, I'm in the process of redoing the ally sides on my car and replacing the f/glass boot panel with ally and now Allanson has shown
me I can make my scuttle look better to
Thanks a bunch, pal!!

A scuttle for 30 pounds cannot be beat! Mine was between 150 and 300 pounds. Just buy it and modify it. If you need wider or narrower, you can cut it
in half and fibreglass it back together. Even I did that and it worked!
I admire Simon's method though.
