demist /windscreen vents
gregs - 22/5/09 at 09:13 PM

As my car needs and mot within the month and I cant be bothered to take the screen off again, I thought i'd fix my demist vents.
Looked around, saw there are ones from europa and CBS but they're silly expensive, so bought two of these linky
Heated the ends, squished them in a vice to seal, drilled along the thin edge, screwed under dash, poped on hose - Bobs my mums brother!

Thought i'd post as I rarely get things right first time around!

Yeah it's right, borrowed my mum's car for a few weeks and the demisters did nothing, they didn't blow anywhere. When I mentioned it they just said "that's what that demister pad's for, it's not worked for years"

I'd get it done though as the single most pita I've ever had to put up with in a car is wiping a window I could barely reach every 30 seconds, in order to see through a bleary screen

Demisters were less than useless on my GTM.
The air intake used to pull in water and create steam in the matrix which fogged the screen.

I've just got a heated front screen for the GTM - that should fix the problem

Just hope I don't break the screen when fitting (took 5 months to get as part of a group buy from Australia.....)

didn't realise they weren't mandatory for MOT - live and learn, I guess I'm glad I didn't invest in a proper set!

You'd be suprised what you don't need for an MOT . Speedo for one thing

Ninehigh - 24/5/09 at 01:33 PM

You don't need a speedo?

I know you don't need a spare tyre, but if you have one it's got to be in good condition
