Simple questions -
1. How far apart have people spaced the 2 spindles on the wiper mechanism?
2. Are they equally spaced on each side of the scuttle centre-line?
3. How far in front of the windscreen should they go?
Still trying to decide where the windscreen should go, before making the brackets...

I think it very much depends on the scuttle and also on the wiper arm lengths.
They're not equally spaced on the centre line because you have to adjust for the wiper blade length when they are horizontal.
I took some pictures of my installation (with tape measure for size- STM scuttle, Caterham screen, 9" wipers, adjusted the blades (cut a bit of
the length off), I've got them stashed somewhere on my desktop if you want them u2u me an e-mail addy (too many to put them in the archive
individually!!!)...
This is how mine go. Park left as there is always a problem sweeping into the corners of the screen and I made it the left side that was less well
covered. You can buy adjustable mini type arms at the shows which helps get maximum swept area.

Yes I did park to the left too
To get better coverage on a low+wide screen how about triple wipers?

You can't get a Mini mechanism for 3 wipers!
(Yes, I know that you could fit another wheelbox in if you were daft enough...)
BenB - I'll U2U my email address - I can use all the helpful info I can get!
Dusty - that's a great drawing - although my dimensions are going to be slightly different (scuttle & screen are bespoke) it's a great
starting point. It also answers another question I had - standard Mini wipers sweep 110 degrees, and I was wondering how that would fit a small screen
- now I know that they do.
I think I'll park to the left on mine, as I'm going to be looking through the top 1/4 of the screen anyway - might as well try to sweep as
much as possible!
cheers,
David

Easy to alter the angle the wipers move by changing the driven wheel inside the wiper motor . It should be marked . Used modified MG Midget arms on my car. When I get around to sorting out the scuttle I will make some new angled spacers for the wheel boxes to get a more suitable angle , hopefully will help to clear the screen better. Rain X is a good idea inside and outside of the screen as well . Mel
Thanks folks!
That will give me a few good starting thoughts...
Uncle Ron says: "The holes in the scuttle for the wiper spindles need to be 11 in (279 mm) apart, 5 1/2 in (140 mm) either side of the centre
line and 1 1/2 in in front of the windscreen", Ron Champion, 2000. "Build You Own POS for as Little as 1000 Crowns (or is that 238 guineas)
- And Race It!" Second Edition, p. 136
I think POS is an exaggeration. Should be Sports Car, shouldn't it.
