Removing Mini wiper arms
scudderfish - 9/9/09 at 07:39 AM

I'm incompetent. I need to get my wiper arms off. I couldn't see any obvious means of holding them on, so are they just push fit? I didn't want to pull too hard last night in case they weren't.

Regards,
Dave

You need to tilt them on the shaft. Bend the wiper arms on their pivots, then push the pivot towards the windscreen. The base of the arm should wobble on the shaft and then it should slide off. If that makes any sense??

Yes there just pushed onto the spline but they can be tight so you may need to lever with a rag covered screwdriver

Leverage and buttock clenching whilst listening out for sounds of gel-coat cracking....

Normally I find, 60 mph in the rain, gets them detached from the car.

They're off. Thanks. Whoever built my car didn't mount the wiper motor to anything, it just flaps around on the end of the tube. The tube, needless to say is somewhat bent and the wipers wouldn't wipe very well. I'm gently straigtening the tubes and making up a bracket to bolt the motor to the scuttle.
