Stainless Polishing Kit Recommendation (Wanted)
Mr Whippy - 21/9/09 at 10:43 AM

Hi,

I’ve got a stainless radiator surround (looks like the one in the picture) that has some ham fisted (not me) marks round the edges that look like flapper wheel lines. Damn that stuff is hard I’ve been trying in vane to sand them out using wet and dry paper and getting nowhere fast. I’ve got a drill and grinder but no bench polishing wheel so need some kind of kit that has everything I need.

Can anyone recommend me a kit they’ve used?

Thanks Rescued attachment grill.jpg

Best thing to do is get hold of a 0.5 - 1 HP 2850 rpm electric motor, then talk to these guys about a pigtail to fit your motor, and suitable wheels / compounds to polish stainless.

Not exactly locost, but you'll finish up polishing everything in sight once you get the results.....

They don't do your drill much good, lots of drag on the motor, and side load on the bearings.

yeah it'll probably write off the drill but I'll either borrow someone else’s or just buy a cheap one and let it explode. It’s just the edges of the surround that need a bit of work, most of the rest is mirror shiny
