what benefits do vented cycle wings have?

Id have though they technically have les resistance to air, as the air will pass through them rather then round the underneath of them.

IMO the benefits would be negligabe as the air has to hit the tyre first before it passes under the wing, unless you have them angled over the back half of the tyre (then it ould have pass along most of the cycle wing anyway). If I fitted them it would be due to looks.

It wont have a big effect on the aerodynamics of the car as a whole (the open tyre to the front will have a much bigger effect) but might help those with weak cycle wing brackets. That lovely curve shape to the wing and the fact that youve got a narrow space of air between wing and tyre where its being forced in the front and then mixed up heavily by a rubber surface thats moving in the opposite direction. Concoction for high pressure... I might put a model through the CFD package im using at work (after hours of course)

they would help to reduce front end lift by letting the high pressure air out.
right now i can feel the front end getting light at around 90. ill let you know how big a difference they make.

hmm will hold off on buying new cycle wings for a while then let us know what they like
