side repeater requirements?
andrew-theasby - 14/11/09 at 12:16 PM

Unless i misunderstood it, somebody posted the other day that a side repeater must be min 750mm from the ground. Ive checked the manual and cant find any dimensions for side repeaters. Is there a min/max height or anything? Thanks

oops just found it, min 350mm high, max 400mm in from the side. Will search harder next time

There is a bit more then just that before you place your side repeaters.

They must be viewable from 5 to 60 degrees from the rear.

If less then 750 mm height they must be viewable vertically 15 degrees up and 5 degrees down from them in conjunction with the above. If placed at 750mm or above it is 15 above and below.

Failures are happening due to the rear arches blocking the view from the rear of the car.

The last restriction I can think of is they must be within 2.6 metres from the front of the car.

On edge of side mirrors would be good but not seen any kit ones that match this. High on the scuttle may also match but then they are right in your eye view if not careful.

Cheers

Adrian

The 400 mm refers to front and rear indicators from the widest part of the car.

How far from the front do they have to be?

I'm thinking if you mounted one on the back of the cycle wing would it count?

Apparently it's 2.6m (see my previous thread)

That's a maximum of 2.6 metres from the front, not seen any minimum distance they can be placed at.

Good point, well spotted

Ah I thought it was it can't be further back than 2.6m, not it must be after 2.6m

The other thing someone posted was that they couldnt be visible from the front. Is this true? They were suggesting painting the front half of the lens. Modern cars that have them in the wing mirrors can only really be seen from the front.

Its not a requirement ive read but my tester said that the sides cant be seen from the front. Im guessing thats his interpretation of the requirement to see 5-60 deg from the rear, therefore no requirement to the front...... that might be his logic. But may be best going with both possibilities you may have a differently viewed tester.
