Progress - It has a wing!
speedyxjs - 7/3/10 at 04:11 PM

Had a good day doing a bit of work on the jag and alot on the locost.

I made a frame for the front during the week and welded up the bottom rear bracket this afternoon and got it all bolted on. I also had to shift more junk at the back of the garage to allow the door to shut with the wing bolted on

Front frame

Bottom bracket

Wing bolted on - Looks very wide in the pic but not so much in real life

Wheel clearance - Is this going to be a potential IVA issue or should i fit mud flaps?

me too, is this a fury or phoenix build? i too thought it was going to be 7esq

Its sevenesque except the front

The wings are TR6 and im just hoping it looks a bit better that it does at the moment.

interesting! be good to ee an idea of the body and how you are going to join the two body types, a challenge indeed!

With regards to your IVA issue i would say tour guess is as good as anyones! I would say it is fine but perhaps someone with a fury or similar will be able to give you some wiser words!

Of course, to cover your back it woudn't be too much effort to put mud flaps on with a little bracket that could always fall off on the drive home?

Im aiming for something similar to this:

My car is only 10cm wider

It's an interestig prospect - I had an idea to do something similar with a midget or forgeye body over a modified 7 style chassis.

Wht are you going to do for the bumper/bonnet?

I plan to cover the front frame with ali and make another frame for the top with a gap in the middle for a grill, then the bonnet will hinge on that and go all the way back to the scuttle.

There is a gap between teh front scuttle line and the rear of the wings which i plan cover with mesh.

"should i fit mud flaps? "

Yes, but make sure they are chequered. They were good for another 5mph in the mid sixties. Those and a racing stripe were popular cheap tuning aids back in the day.
