I need to bend some aluminium tube into an s shape with fairly tight radius.... Anyone know if this is possible with about 12 mm diameter tube?

thanks

how tight are you talking? Would you not be better to buy pre-bent tube?

Aluminium is no good for a roll bar

plumbers Pipe bender ? would depend on wall thickness.

There was something on you tube where you tape one end up fill with sand and water then seal the top. then bend around your former whuch could bs a radiused piece of mdf etc. the sand stops the tube collapsing

you may need to anneal it first...depending on the grade....

would it not be very easy just to do it in copper ?

I'm not sure if I have understood correctly, but are you expecting 12mm aluminium tube to be rigid enough not only to hold the weight of the lamps but also to stop them vibrating?

indeedy.

can you describe the problem, ideally with photo of the lamps so we can advise - your solution does not sound particulalry sound.

Lights are mounted in the same way on this car with indicators incorporated on the same bracket. However the tube is steel and 2mm wall thickness.

Bracket like this are available from Caterham.
