How to mount headlights
speedyxjs - 31/3/10 at 02:14 PM

I got some 5 3/4" headlights with chrome surrounds on eBay for £5 (were advertised as spotlamps but i noticed the side light in them ) and was wondering how best to mount them. They have an M18 mounting bolt thing (technical term) at the bottom.

cheers

Round/oval bar, flattened at each end with a big hole through.

I welded two 6mm bolts to the chassis upside down (so thread sticking up in the air) then drilled corresponding 6mm holes in the headlamp bar.

Put the headlamp bar on the chassis so the welded on bolt threads go through the holes you drilled in the headlamp bar and secure with washers and nuts. It will also double as an electrical earth for your lamps/indicators and anything else nearby.

Ive got two bits of 3mm wall tube about 50mm dia and same long. Ive welded a 3mm disc on top with 18mm hole.

Ive then cut a hole in the side and welded a tube to them and the chassis.

Hides the nut's and wiring.

looks a very sva friendly method, one of the things I failed on was the MK headlamp bar not having 3mm radius
