I HATE PAINTING BODY PANELS!

Sorry for shouting - but I do hate spraying panels - I hate all the prep work, the masking off, rubbing down, etc, then all the cleaning up afterwards.

I'm also not particularly good at it, so I end up grumbling about what I've achieved at the end of it all...

<end rant>

I'd be willing to bet that 99.9% of the people on here are their own worst/best critics, so take solace in the fact that although we all have a different set of skillsets, what you have achieved (on your own) is a very good thing whether it turns out perfect or not!!!

That's a lovely thing to say, I bet you can even tell your wife she always looks beautiful with even she doesn't.

However if it looks crap to you it probably looks crap to everybody.

TBH I quite enjoy prep and paint, find it quite theraputic.

I can't help pointing the odd blemish out to anyone who shows interest though, whether they can see it or not........

Didn't turn out too bad in the end - actually quite impressed with Halfords spray cans of cellulose. My prep could have been better, but the actual process of putting on paint went quite well. The finish is good enough for me as it's meant to be a driving car, not a show-piece.

Cut it back with Farecla G3 this evening, by hand (my foam pad hadn't arrived, and I got impatient). After an hour's energetic rubbing I was rather hot and extremely knackered! Didn't go through the colour coat, which was a relief.

Now to put all the bits back on... maybe I'll get to drive it on the weekend!

I've generally been surprised with how well my spraying comes out. The interior of my 205 was done with virtually no prep (I was 16 with a very short attention span...), on the driveway with a 9ltr 4.5cfm compressor and a spray gun my dad had acquired in the 70s and it came out pretty nicely! And most of it has stayed stuck in the right place as well
