Morning all

Had the bonnet off the car yesterday and where it touches the scuttle and nose cone it's started to rub the gel coat.

Want to fit some rubber trim to smarten things up. Would prefer proper rubber than that rubber sponge stuff if possible.

So my questions are, is it best to trim the bonnet or attach to the scuttle and nose instead? What is the best stuff to use and lastly how do you attach it? every time I've tried gluing rubber trim in the paste it hasn't taken long before it starts working loose and flapping around.

I put a P / Tadpole piece on the scuttle, so the bonnet rested on the tail of the tadpole shape. (P shape is better as its flat all along one side)
At the other end, I used a piece of U shaped rubber on the bonnet. There wasnt enough room for Tadpoles both end.

All held in place with Dunlop Thixofix glue. Can also use Evostick. Just coat both pieces (sides) allow to dry then bond. The Dunlop Glue allows more slide /manouvering time before bonding.

There are many different ways of doing this job!

I did this when I was placing the scuttle. As it took up a bit of space. ie the tadpole at the fron moved the bonnet back by about 3mm.

I fixed the nose cone, fitted the rubbers, then placed and fixed the scuttle. It gave a reasonably good shut line for the bonnet.

Thanks for that, where can you get this Dunlop glue as I must admit I've never hear of it but it sounds just the job?
