I am goint to start spraying my bodywork in celluose shortly, Would i be better using a paint roller to paint the high build primer on to get a thicker coat on?

You can use a roller certainly but in my experience, it goes on better with a gun.

use a gun! roller is hard work with wet and dry to get smooth.
