New luggage rack.

Following on from my new roll bar here...

I've now made a rack to hang on it. Should give me an alternative to filling up the passenger footwell with camping kit.

Yes, it's powder coated.

The jerry is only really there for scale but where do you suppose the fuel tank is?

It will require a bag to be removed to fill up when fully loaded. I'll leave that space to last when loading. That way it's only a problem when the racks full. The bars are set to leave space to remove the cap and fill the tank.

It won't be going into production as my welding is nowhere near what I'd be happy charging for. It won't break but it aint pretty without a lot of grinding.

It's keeping it neat while welding around a 10mm tube that I had trouble with.

That's great, I have a similar plan for mine.
Can I ask what gauge you used for the main tube and how you bent it at the corners?

Main tube is 20x1.25mm. Small cross bars are 8x1mm. The hoop at the front is 16x1mm. I had a 2m length of the 20mm in stock, same with the 16mm, the cross bars came from B+Q for convienience. I bent it with a tube bender from my local tool shop (£35). It took some doing as the bender is really for copper. The stays are 10x1mm with nuts welded to the ends. then all attached with rose joints.

I drilled the main frame and cross braces then sprung it open to insert the cross tubes. The whole thing held itself together fairly firmly. Then welded and ground/filed.
