2k paint !!
HAL 1 - 1/6/10 at 11:04 AM

Did a bit of painting on the car this w/end with 2k, unfortunately i got a couple of runs and bits of cr*p on the surface,
so after rubbing down i'd like to know if there's any minimum length of time before i can respray it ?
i'm asking this cos i know that it might be dry but will it need to be cured before more paint goes on ?

or shall i bin the idea and go back to celly ?

BTW, used all the right stuff, air fed, full suit etc

tape up the floor and walls with dust sheet celephane to stop dust.

if the weather has been ok you can sand and clean up then spray within a few hours.

i use a heat lamp to dry it off quicker.

but i have massive issues with dust living near farms and having a gravel drive.

so i built a plastic dust sheet enclosure.

works well.

Cheers for quick reply jossey, you've put my mind at ease there, i'll be getting on with it at the w/end
I think some of the cr*p was due to me not cleaning the gun properly

if you have a oil rad put that on when your done with the paint. will help it dry a little quicker and less risk of dust etc.

good luck.

glad i could help.

i have been doing that last few weeks so i know its a pain.

My 2k paint is a pain to dry. I have found with experimentation that if the part is small enough bung it in the oven on the ovens lowest setting. Or as suggested above using a radiator below the part.

The crap may have been in the paint I use old tights to strain the paint into the pot, Wet the floor to stap dust rising if painting a small area gently heat with a hot air gun
