looking for some very small/fine mesh to cover some outlet vents up on body work. The race regs say max 1mm holes, anyone got a link to a supplier??

halfords do some very very fine aluminium mesh with their fibreglass section. don't know if its 'too fine' though

ooh, i'll try and pop in on way home, trouble is the halfords by me isn't that big and the chav section is very small, which is surprising when you see the state of some of the corsa's, saxo's and punto's nearby!!

just looked ta link that could be ideal, is it rigid at all??

blakep82 - 8/6/10 at 02:38 PM

nah, not that section, its along with the body repair, fillers, fibreglass, sandpaper etc. £1.89 for a bit 25x20cm apparently, but its VERY fine

its aluminium, how ridgid is aluminium wire? lol not particularly, but best way is to get in and see it

Not at all rigid, won't do for vent holes unless they are very very small, it's for strengthening body repairs where filler is used etc

I need 1 piece about 400mm x 100 and 2 pieces about 300mmx300mm. If you can help I'll reimburse you what ever you want!

I will have a measure up tonight and get back to you, pretty sure theres enough there to do that, but best to measure it, will post a pic up close with regards to mesh size as well

b and q do a large range of meshes in lots of sizes

tony-devon - 9/6/10 at 08:40 PM

ok got pics just trying to work out a way to put them up on here?

will try a photobucket link?

anyway the bit I have left isnt perfectly rectangular, but the smallest dimensions would give you a piece 102cm x 42cm

thats plenty by my reckoning, gives you room to get rid of the edges that are there and get nice new clean edges etc

its also stainless so no worries about rusting and loss of airflow

no idea what its worth, but make me an offer for it posted, unless you got some ford wheel nuts for alloy wheels kicking about need 10 for the back end of my trike

please excuse the plastic verynears, was the closest thing to hand, and as I use them for measuring when Im reloading, plastic is safer than metal when I have a bench ful of ammunition and gunpowder LOL

I did change it back to 40thou ie 1mm. the actual hole is deffo less than 1mm, I would say that the external of the squares is 1mm, holes probably 0.6mm square

I will take it to work with me tomoro, if its any good drop me an email as I struggle to view this site at work, and then I can get it posted, should have it for the weekend then
