Guys,
I'm planning on fitting the rear lights to my car tomorrow, but am a bit scared about cutting holes in the fibre glass!
Has anyone any tips?
I'm using the small round lights that are used on Landy's and Mini indicators I believe.
Cheers
Put masking tape on wing, and mark positions... Just be careful, and make sure you have the SVA manual handy
I used some hole cutters from machine mart or somewhere, the drill mounted ones. I've used them on aluminium and fibreglass. They are easy to use, just keep them parallel to the surface you're cutting, the pilot drill keeps them on line till they are through.
We chain drilled then filed... just be careful!
Northy,
We are running in parallel!, Exactly what I am doing tomorrow, I am using westy wedgebacks, so it will be much easier, I have already done the masking
tape bit to get everything level.
I will probably post a pickie tomorrow night (unusually!! )

For delicate shaping and trimming of fibreglass, I found a dremmel multitool invaluable. Used undersized holecutters then fine tuned them with the
dremmel for a tight fit.
Woolworths and Focus do a cheapo version for a tenner.

I used a wood boring bit for the wiring holes, and a std HSS for the screw holes, both at VERY slow speed.

... and finished

I chickened out!
Tomorrow I promise!
I'll be checking!
Go On - get it done...
Eventually did it, the project manager (missus) oversaw the job!

That looks fantastic Northy!
sorry, just trolling about on the site, nothing contructive to add...
Cheers, Ted
No reversing light !
Only reason i'm fitting one is so that the fog light dont look odd
Looks nice tho

Ben,
You see the gap between the Stop/Tail and main tub, I'll be fitting reflectors there for SVA, then they may fall off and get replaced with two
reversing lights same style as the Stop/Tail and Indicators.
The Fog then might flip upside down and move to the centre line.
they're well trained if they do all that by themselves!
Wouldn't it look better with one round reverse on the passenger side arch and one round fog on the drivers side?
Will all be matching and symetrical then and no lights on the tub itself!
Pat...
Northy,
I have the same stop and indicator lights as you. How much of a gap do you have between the back of the lights and the tyres? I haven't fitted
mine yet but with 15" wheels it looks like they might be touching.
Mark, where did you get the reversing light from and do you have a fog to match?
