Cutting and drilling bodywork - how to?
Jumpy Guy - 2/6/04 at 07:51 AM

For the master bodyworkers out there, Two questions -
1 i have some rear arches that i need to cut a bit out of. i bought them from darren, so the quality etc is goos, they're just the wrong shape for me (dont ask.....) so, will lots of masking tape and a jigsaw work? fast or slow?
2 Mac 1 aeroscreen, how do i drill mounting holes without 'starring' or any other problems?

Yup u can get jigsaw blades that will cut GRP fine, medium speed, or if u want to borrow one of my diamond cutting discs Im in Glasgow too. If you want to buy yer own Allscot in Glasgow, Grp blades are approx 4.90 per pkt, the diamond cutting wheel approx $24. Tel 0141-429-2424

Use a lip and spur wood drill bit at slow speed with very little pressure. It will also help to back up the screen with a piece of similar material during drilling.
Lip and spur bits are the ones with a central point and two scribing points instead of the normal Vee shaped cutting edges. B&Q etc sell them.
