Hi guys I've been thinking about the wiring loom recently for my fury, which got me onto will i need to be driving a wiper motor, which obviously led me to will i have a screen? If i don't have a screen, i dont see any point in doors, as the only reason i'd make doors is to put windows on and then some sort of soft / hard top. bearing in mind this is my first build, its a car designed predominatley for road use, with a possible occasional track day, i'm not an engineer; i have never used glass fibre, and i'm told making doors is right pain in the ar*e.

What I have always read is that getting a windshield through IVA is a pain because besides wipers you need a demist and getting that to work properly is not easy. So, get it IVA'd with the aeroscreen and mod later, if you feel like it.

Keep life simple and IVA without anything.

If you want a full screen then plan for it during the build. Ie wiper motor size and location , demistor. but dont fit until after IVA.

Or do as I did and fit an aeroscreen after the test.

as said above. iva first and then fit the screen.

i drove around for a while with just a helmet on but the old neck musles started to ache after a while, so fitted a screen and i have just finished the doors.

Triouble is, with a Fury you need to decide before you buy/build whether you want the "normal" body with screen surround or the spider without (I think...).

If it was me, I would go for screen and doors on a Fury

If you dont venture far aero screening is ok.

But if you live in Scotland being realistic you need some protection if you do long trips up the highlands.
300 miles in the rain is not funny.....even at sixty miles per hour the windchill factor is severe...

I did 3 or 4 years with just a pair of fly-screens - but the novelty wore off. it's a PITA to put helmets on just to go down the road to the pub, where a screen allows you to just leap aboard and head off. It was a total pain to fit the screen, wipers and screen washers retrospectively.

If I was doing it again, I'd fit the screen, wipers and washers, make sure they worked Ok then strip them all off again for the IVA. Put bungs on the holes, make it look tidy, and swear blind that I'd no intention to fit a screen! Then put it all back later...

I agree ^^^^^ easyer to just jump in to go and get a paper.

Ive see a few furies and like the look of both the styles (doors & no Doors) No doors looks like a racer and at home on a track, bit for practicality i would go with doors and a screen.

in the end a car with no screen and any form of weather gear will be used far less than one with a screen, especially in the UK climate.

The doors i have made are a result of not wanting cold Air rammed up my nose at speed and a wish to make more use of the car.

you've given me a lot to think about.

If you're going to consider converting a screened fury body to non-screen, don't...haven't seen a good conversion yet except where the whole body has been replaced.

i dont know what to think now, except a large percentage believe i'll not get very far in the damp!

I think its got to be done right first time by the sounds of it... its just so tempting to get it built asap!
