After contemplating the options of what top do with the bare ali panels on my car (bonnet & sides) rather than get them painted i thought i'd
vinyl wrap them in a matching colour to the rest of the body (orange) or matt black.
As the panels are pretty flat (i.e. no compound curves, is this an easy job to get looking nice? would it be best to trim the vinyl off at the panel
edge or wrap it round and back on the insides?
Is there a good supplier of the vinyl or is it an ebay job?
Any advice greatly recieved.
Cheers
Ash.

Hi Ash
It's pretty easy as long as the panels aren't too curved. Just use regular sign writing vinyl - that will be fine for a seven-esque body.
You'll need a heat gun (eg wallpaper gun on low setting or a good hairdryer) to help.
There's a place on the Slough trading estate that sells the vinyl and they have a walk-in trade counter. They also have an roll-ends section
which can be handy if you're not too fussy about colours:

Just one thought. Is it going to be okay in the are behind the silencer. Just thinking that it might get a bit warm.

It's OK behind the silencer. And wrap around the part as much as possible. use lotso soap and water and a credit card or something wrapped in a clean rag to push the water out. Start in the centre and go towards the outside.
As per rk if using soap and water use a silicon type squegy to get all the moisture out.
You can fit it drive, which is tricky but the edges stick much better at the panel edge.
I found the water would force any remaining dirt to the edge leaving it nit as sticky.
