How do I remove tigerseal? And a decent polish
daniel mason - 1/2/11 at 11:45 PM

Whilst messing with my bodywork tonight I managed to get a few bits of tigerseal on The nose cone! As well as my fingers. Is there anything which will remove it from nose cone without damaging gel coat?
I have also noticed a few scratches on the bonnet and wondered if there was a decent polish which could remove these marks?

Acetone always worked for me. Small bottle from chemist was less than £2. As always, try it on an offcut etc first.

G3 followed by G10 should get light scratches out. i had some a bit more than light - used 2000 W&D first followed by above. Obviously just be careful ref thickness of gel coat.

Take care with acetone on gel coat, it will attack it if you leave it on there. Better to use thinners as that doesn't attack the gel coat.

Denatured alcohol helps, but fully cured polyurethane adhesive is a PITA to remove.
