What is the requirement regarding the exhaust guard? Does it only have to cover the can?

The reason I ask is because the downpipes get pretty damn hot too so what is the regulation regarding those?

does it need a guard ? I havent seen any come via SVA or IVA with one, the main problem is the clamp as this can be checke for radius if you fit it with the bolt accesible to the orb or whatever they call it

If you are minded to do it I suggest you carry on.
We all know silencers are hot but I still have the scar on my inside wrist where I touched it briefly last year.
Also when little kids start ogling the cockpit their shins are at just the right height to contact the silencer!
Locost solution's in my archive - a bit of bodging and it's amazing what you can do with a washing machine drum - and it's stainless of course.
