I am hoping to move my engine back a few inches from where it used to be as a Pinto setup. Obviously to help bring the weight back a tad more central
to the car, but also help a bit with the gear shifter being more to hand.
From the picture below, there is a "cross bar" (circled in red) of chassis that would stop/hinder this from happening. Can we really see a
problem in removing this? If so, should a new bit be welded perhaps a few inches further forward on the frame ?
any thoughts ? cheers

That can be moved further back, i'd suggest fitting another one further forward as well.

I think i would cut it out mount the engine and then add bracing where you can after.
