I'm oredering some more resin and catalyst for some GRP work I need to do. The trouble is, these vendors quote everything in weights exept the
ratios! 1Kg of resin, 100g of catalyst, then tell you to add 10ml of catalyst to 1litre of resin!! How the hell do I know how much catalyst to order
for a given weight of resin? Do I assume it is a percentage, i.e. 10ml:1litre =1% therefore for 1Kg of resin I will need 10g of catalyst?
I looked at the kits but they only quote xKg of resin 'plus catalyst' no wieght
Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I AM stupid , just don't want to bo77ocks up the ratios.

Yes, exactly as you sugegst. Polyester is quite tolerant of variation in mix ratios... But roughly speaking,t he ratio is ok by weight or by
volume...
Work on the need for approximately 2% catalyst... 1% is a little on the low side (but will still cure I'm sure)
I've been making up small batches for patching up my bulkhead and using it at 1%. It gives me enough time to cut the matting to shape whilst
I'm on the job (eek!) but it still goes off in about 20mins. And make sure you give it a good stir as thetes not much worse than having sticky
patches!
Also, check to see if the catty is supplied with the resin. ECF delivered my gear yesterday and they supply the 5kg drums with resin.

Thanks for the info guys
Now I can get on and order some.

hot weather/workshop requires less catalyst, cold weather requires more, damp weather also has an effect on it as well
