I quite fancy having a bash at making my nose and bonnet a single item with it hinged at the front with a couple of gas rams from a boot lid for
support. Has any got any pics of it being done? I remember seeing a very sweet looking indy with a straight six lump with one but can't remember
if it was on here?
Also I have both a grp bonnet and an aluminium one, would it make any difference as to which one was used? I figured the ally one is much lighter so
less stress on the joint? Also what would be the best technique to join the two?
Any help appreciated as ever

When I originally built my car I used a bought nosecone (which I had to widen by 4", and then made the bonnet from grp and joined the two.
When I started the turbo conversion I needed a new bonnet so modified (as in a plug to be moulded) the then exisiting bonnet for turbo/intercoolers
and injection (modified rear entry plenum etc) which I moulded and produced a new bonnet.
Have since done it again as I changed plans again for a n/a 3.9 V8.
You won't need rams, they just add weight (says the man with the V8 under the bonnet), all you need is something to stop it falling too far
forward when raised, and I use 1mm (approx) steel wire fixed under a couple of screws.
You'll need to think about lights and wiring - I have mine attached to bonnet.
Hi Mark, how's things
