roohunter - 18/12/11 at 04:19 PM

hi folks
i have bought a part built mk indy and have removed one of the rear wings as it is slightly more forward than the other side, but no matter what position i put it in ,it is always to close to the tyre at the front bottom edge.
i have re mounted it in exactly the same position as the other side and it is still nearly touching the tyre.
anyone else had this happen?
HELP!!!
what can i do ,can you buy new wings?

thanks folks

Is the rear tub fitted square ? Maybe a defective arch, otherwise im stumped.

Wishbones fitted correctly?

I'd get under the car and start checking why things aren't lining up.

Unfortunatluy I think that there is a slight variance between the L and R mouldings and that it in not unknown to have to adjust to best fit

I had a similar problem and found that to line the wing up I had to fix one side and bend the arch to fit in correct position. There should be a fair amount of flex in the wing so it should stretch.

Its a problem with the mould you can reduce the problem by stretching the wing into place and then securing it will never be 100% though

Has the mould been sorted yet? Or is it just a problem with the older cars?

hi folks,
thank you all for your help, just thought i would let you know i got my wing to stretch by submersing it in the bath ,with red hot water and then bracing it with a piece of timber while it cooled and got 3/4 of an inch movement.

thanks folks
