only need a pint pot if you leave the ali bare

Cita - 26/8/04 at 06:00 AM

"Don't let the cost scare you"...that's a nice one!

JoelP - 26/8/04 at 07:19 AM

maybe 'dont let the price make you run screaming down the street'

or

'frantically call your mortgage broker'

would be more suitable?!

Would be a talking point at a show, MK or GTS or some one should do a car in that as a marketing stunt.

Could coat the Fibreglass in the Xposure (c) FILM instead may be cheeper.

Grea site though - some really interesting paint finishes avaliable..... loads of ideas that are way beyond my budget!

Over to you Hicost.

Mark Allanson - 26/8/04 at 05:42 PM

Standox Lapis Blue is about £5K a litre - pretty though

After all it seems that Mr. Goldfinger was not so crazy with his golden RR.
5000£ a liter...you might as well ask 15000£,what's the difference for he who's using it anyway

Mark Allanson - 27/8/04 at 07:47 PM

Apparently its made from distilling the carapaces taken from some obscure egyptian beetle (probably quite a few of them!!)

Cita - 28/8/04 at 06:38 AM

You mean it's about the same lunacy as the most expencive coffee in the world ?That is made from beans that first have been eaten by some animal(ferret?)s"#tted out, washed(hopefuly!) and than grinded.
The destruction of the Roman empire is due to repeat itself!

The coffee is Kopi Luwak, I just had to google it, it sounds too rich to be true.

When I was doing art in 6th form i got a set of watercolour paints and the blue cost 4x as much as all the others. Could have been similar to what you describe.

Mark Allanson - 29/8/04 at 07:49 PM

I don't know about the water colours, perhaps the cobalt is more expensine?

The Lapis Blue thing was more of a publicity thing by Standox, it got a lot of people talking about it, I have never heard of anyone using it except Standox who did a Merc SLK in it.

stephen_gusterson - 30/8/04 at 10:29 PM

in my googling for paint info Ive seen 'flip' paint for about 800 quid a litre.

Give us a clue, I hate hard questions.

stephen_gusterson - 31/8/04 at 09:36 AM

I dont know yet. Im pretty sure that by the time my car is finished paint will have been replaced by other technologies.

Why not cover the whole thing in vinyl for that '30s look
