Help required; I've broken the mechanism on my boot latch, I'm struggling to identify to find a replacement so any suggestions appreciated:

I don't know the original application but it looks more to likely have been a boot latch than a bonnet catch

got a sideways picture ???

They are different, but I have the latches I removed my car - you can have them if they are any use to you.

I am still trying to remember on which car I have seen that exact type, it has similarities with some of the Honda/Rover boot latches.

The rubbery plastic cover made me think Ford
Try Ford Escort not sure what mark, the rear hatch latches on Escorts didn't change much over the years.

An ebay search on escort boot latch should turn up some pictures.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, it looks very close to a mk2 escort but they have an additional triangle at the top of it:

Looking at mine it doesn't look as though it has been modified so the hunt is still on.
