Half hood material?
Westy1994 - 10/9/12 at 03:13 PM

Does anyone have or know what the material is that Soft Bits For Sevens use for their Half Hood?, the website does not mention it. I assume its a fairly light weight material, I have some canvas ordered for a full roof, but thought for the odd trip out, a half hood would be better to store when not in use..

See my recent thread.

I got my material from the same place one of the members here suggested:

http://www.profabrics.co.uk/index.php and the material I used was http://www.profabrics.co.uk/shop/show_product_info.php?id=D7-09

It's really thin, light and pretty strong too

The SoftBits half hoods are made from "DoubleDuck"

@ Daddylonglegs, Thanks for that, would you make it from a thicker material, or are you happy with it as it is, just wondered about the 'flapping' bit you mentioned on the other thread.

@adithorp, Are they, OK thanks, I have that for my main hood and thought it may have been overkill for a simple half hood, unless of course most folks use the half hood INSTEAD of the full one?.

I might sew in a thicker edging for the sides if I did it again, but to be honest the flapping isn't really a big issue for me. I'm not sure if thicker mateial would actually stop the flapping unless it was REALLY thick. Mine is nice and light/small, and folds up so I can stuff it down the side of my seat

nickMK used the following for his half hood that he detailed on here some months ago. http://www.fabricuk.com/fabrics.php?fabric_type=416

I bought some and made mine and it does the job a treat. Think Double Duck would cost a lot more.
