hi all,

as part of my final winter mods I want to add a cold air feed to my air filter and add some kind of vent to get the hot air out from under the bonnet.

I was thinking of some kind of inlet duct on the nose feeding to the air filter, but not sure what type. Any suggestions with pictures?

Also how to vent the hot air out of the engine bay? Again, suggestions and pics welcome

I just used an ally 70mm extractor fan tube, the stuff you can pull to extend
To be effective you need the filter in line and an air box the cool end should be in the nose before radiator or in a cool air vent
Hot air venting I just wedged the rear of the bonnet 5mm it presents quite a lot of area and all the under bonnet hot air exits with assistance of engine bay air pressure

Do ventilated side panels. You leave a gap at the trailing edge so the hot air can vent out the back of the engine bay. It dropped my under bonnet temperature considerably!

Do you have an alloy bonnet, if so then I still think the original is still the best, and it adds just a little rigidity. It did cost about £200 to get stamped professionally.

Yes its an alloy bonnet and alloy sides, and locost solution is what's needed....

Cold air feed.

Can't say how effective they are as not on the road yet. Those bonnet louvres look good.

How about completely boxing the rad and routing the hot air out through the nose cone?

Then a dedicatedcold air feed to the inlet?

We did this on our bonnet which works well for the warm air
& perfect for our R1 engine's cool air as the bonnet scoop
feeds direct into our reversed air box
can't help with cold feed on yours , but would imagine some
sort of ducting would do the job.

Love the vent in the nose cone "Smoking Frog". But how do you stop the rain from getting in?

The rain just trickles out of the bottom of the rad ducting.

Im thinking of a vent like that.
Initially the thought was to cover up surface crackes on the GRP, but I think I'm going to need extra vents somewhere.
Problem is the battery is just under it so the duct would be a must.

But how do you stop the engine getting drenched when parked in a rain storm?

In that example it would just get wet, but I've never had an engine issue with it being parked or driven in the rain.

One very good reason for not leaving a at the rear of the bonnet is what happens to you if you get a fire in the engine bay while moving?
Having witnesed thee trail of fire when a fuel pipe popped off the Webber's on an Imp racer it is something I would avoid doing.
