Hi all

I have made the wind screen frame, the inner channel is 10mm I handed it over to my local Auto windsceen co, with the rubber and they recommend the safe thickness is 6.1 mm however the rubber I got with the frame is thick and on trying to fit the glass it makes it crack.

Can anyone shade somelight on this please:

1) Is there any thiner rubber I can get from somewhere this is the one I got from GBS?
Or
2) would it be safe to fit the glass with small spacer in the frame and then seal with poly sealant?

Or
3) Any other bright idea that might resolve this be much appreciatted?

Bicycle inner tube - double layer if its too thin. Then trim around the edge with a razor blade.

I also have a GBS windscreen to fit and found the same problem.Apparently they supplied some with rubber that was to thick, I found some 1.5 mm on E bay by searching for rubber strip or neoprene, it is sold in various width and lengths and was only about £5 all I have to do now is get around to fitting it one year or another.

A Caterham S3 screen should fit your locost - they fit an Indy and they're the same dimensions.
A black pack windscreen + stanchions sold this morning on ebay for £62 !! (albeit it did have a crack in the glass).

Wouldn't this be easier?

Ignore me... it went for £103 in the end...

Mine is fitted with spacers and a tube of sealant I was given by the local autoglass place. Tied it all up with luggage straps to hold the channel on firmly and left it in the garage for a few days. Very solid, doesn't leak and the hood doesn't lift the top channel like it used to.
