Need a few wheels refurbishing cheaply - ideally just blast and paint/powdercoat silver.
I know City Powdercoaters in Brum used to be pretty cheap (c. £20/wheel) - has anyone used them or know if they are still in business?
Alternatively does anyone know anywhere else pretty cheap (yes, I know you get what you pay for but I just want something that looks better than it
does today and I can't justify spending what most places are asking (£60+) on these wheels)
Hi Steve
I used BJV engineering (www.wheelrefurbishing.co.uk) near Hemel . Superb job but £45 a wheel..
Or try Sprayblast Fabrications in Wycombe . A real old school engineering shop and I think they wanted around £20 each to blast and coat bare wheels
in silver. Going back a while now though.
They coated me some parts and did a good job at a decent price.
If they charge £20 per wheel they probably will be out of business the materials would cost more than that!
I get mine done for £25 each thats blasted and powder coated.
I have used City Powdercoaters a few times and been satisfied with the results for the price they don't always give a fine finish where the wheel isn't visible but the exposed faces are as good as any.
As above, no complaints about City Powdercoaters from me
Apart from the fact they are hard to get hold of by phone on occasions.
I used Unimet in Cardiff Road some time ago.
Cleaned up the loose stuff myself and Hammerited the inside (ie the bit that doesn't show).
They stripped the outers and then two-packed them - still looking good three years on.
Can't remember how much as it was folding.
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe10

Another thumbs up for city powdercoaters fro me as well, not show quality but they can make a gash set of wheels look good and I have 1 set that are 3
years old now with no peeling or defects.
