Closed wheel body for locost chassis - windscreen?
ChazzyB - 12/4/16 at 02:09 PM

I'm about to start designing a closed wheel body which will fit onto a locost chassis. I have a stuart taylor locorage (basically a locost) at the moment, but quite like the idea of making it a little more interesting.

Anyway, I'm thinking something along the lines of the arion s2, or sylva phoenix/fury, but I'm struggling with finding a donor windscreen.

Has anyone got any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a mk1 MX5 screen, but it might be a bit too wide. I know the sylva cars use an elan s2 screen, but I think this is too upright, I want something a little more swept back.

I'm about to start modelling it all in CAD and will hopefully have some ideas soon which I'll post on here.

Epona used a Smart I think.

Genius! Smart roadster screen should do the trick. Just need to get hold of one.

Fury uses a lotus elan one I think.

Try getting one.....

Mev is putting the Smart screen as an option on their Exocet.

VW Superbeetle (1303) has been used on Westfield Elevens.

Other candidates are the Fiat Cinquecento/Seicento and the Ford Ka.

The GTM Libra used the screen from a Fiat Cinquecento

Good call. You can get heated screens for Elises, too, which would make life easier with demisting and IVA:

You might also think about looking at the Japanese K-car type sports cars; stuff like the Daihatsu Copen, Suzuki Cappucino and (rarer) Honda Beat.

Or a Renault spider.
