Carbon fibre rear arches
J222jra - 28/9/17 at 08:28 PM

Can anyone recommend a supplier for carbon fibre rear arches (standard width) for my locost 7.

I've seen ultimate carbon but not sure on their quality/ finish.

Also seen caterhams at £510 each.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance

The carbon quality is brilliant too (pre preg)

I brought all mine from Sean and neil

But why are they so cheap.......

Hopley89 - 29/9/17 at 08:13 AM

caterhams are so expensive because you are paying for the Badge or name

I had ordered as follows in pre preg carbon

front cycle wings
rear wings
dash board
2 air in take ducts
bonnet scoop
interior panels
aero screen
scuttle front panel
seats

they are all brilliant quality so i can only assume the caterham ones
are just the same as all other companies but just cost 2x the price

It's just odd looking how the weave changes direction half way around the arch....like it's two pieces.

I'll send you a few pics of mine later when i'm home but i don't think that is the case with my arches

What you are seeing as a change in cloth direction is where the cloth is cut to fit around the the outside edge.

Prepreg? The real stuff needs an autoclave.

You are correct in the cloth cutting to receive around the transition curve of the wing.

These are real pre peg carbon in autoclave oven.

Price if there too cheap we are happy to put the price up

We have always tried to remain as competitive on price as we can, you can see that we do not try to make massive margins, just as best a product we can and keep the locost theme to it,

They are very light and better quality hence the reason we moved away from wet lay to pre peg,

Your welcome to visit us to take a look at a sample if needed,

Who's prepreg are you using?

I built my own claves in 1998 to make composite pressure vessels and yacht parts. Then found out very quickly that prepreg and a clave is a cost effective system.

The motorsport multiplier for price is 5~10 times cost of time and materials.
