Can I leave this open?

Can I leave the area marked by red rectangle open? Will it cause any issues at SVA? Any good photos of this area on your car if you have left this open?

That area was left open on my MK Indy. Admittedly it was SVA back then, but it didn't cause any issues.

Shouldn't be a problem it's how I did mine.

Dax (among others) do a nice flared side panel that looks better as it goes all the way to the front, it is be made out of two pieces but the style hides the join.

p.s. I'm away on holiday for a few days tomorrow, back on Wednesday.

Have a good holiday. I’m going to sort out the drive shafts at the weekend so will get it touch with you when you get back from your hols.

Cheers

Probably OK but I'm glad I went to the trouble of keeping mine enclosed. PITA to get the holes in the right place in the side panels but looks so much better

I've started trimming my side panels - aiming to get it like Nicks, as I agree it looks much better - but some what is left between holes is rather thin. I I think trying to retain the very front top section will mean the panel would likely need reinforcing on the inside.

So i'm probably going to go with this look in the end which is possibly the best compromise.

Thanks for that, that looks like a good way of doing it.

Is it just me or has the car in your pic not got a grille? I like the look of the purposeful hole showing radiator.

Looks that way to me - I lifted that pic from the pre-IVA thread Joshy put up (http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=208462).

I have seen a few 7's done like this - no mesh and the rad is exposed - I suppose a lot of modified cars have an intercooler rad poking out of the front - so guess they're reasonably tough despite looking flimsy...

I could be wrong -but my impression that is a photo of that car at the IVA station - with the builder holding his pass certificate...!

Or Joshy on here has a rather oversized garage (possible!) :-D
