Rather than the shiny stainless of the 2b I was thinking of painting the shell with just the added benefit that it will not rust later... I did consider a wrap but as the car is covered in rivets that would look very crap. Is there a special primer specifically for stainless I should use and do I have to sand the oxide layer off first? can't say I've ever painted stainless before tbh but I've seen painted Deloreans
Just an etch primer, no?
Only tried painting stainless a couple of times and only used the same primer and paint I'd use for mild steel. It didn't stay on their for long. I resolved myself to the fact it was stainless and shouldn't rust anyway (I know some stainless grades do). TBH it was more effort trying to clean it off without wrecking the stainless beneath.
Thorough scuff with 240 grit DA, followed by an acid etch, or epoxy primer.
