Wheel Arches too narrow?
jambojeef - 6/6/05 at 12:50 PM

Hello,

Took delivery of my luego rear arches last week - tried them on last night and my wheels seem to poke out wider than the arch by about 20mm at least. Im using their widest fitment - 280mm and book width chassis - sierra track - 205 tyres - 35mm offest (phew).

Has anyone else some across a similar problem - the wheels DO have be inside the arches for SVA dont they?

That's the problem using Sierra width back end in a book chassis, the wheels stick out further and consequently you need wider rear arches. I've modelled mine in CAD and will be looking for arches in the region of 310mm wide, I've been told by others on here that they are available

Odd though cos the locost that luego do runs the sierra back end (or so I thought) and so should be ok...?

Hmm - will have to measure up when I get home and make sure that they have sent me the right 280mm ones and not the 215mm by mistake

Cheers

Oh man they dont fit!!!??

Actually the luego locost is just a book live axle car. the luego velocity is their sierra one and thats the arches I've got. they are 11.5" wide which is.... 292mm. So maybe still pushin it a bit with your phat dubs. It's ok on mine cos my chassis has an extra inch.

Ah just get some chrome wheelarch extensions for the sva!!

Aiight

For info ive just measured my Mac#1 rear arches - 295mm from body side to outside edge of arch.

Ok think I might have a plan on this one....

your comments please......!

I have totally measured up and it aint as bad as I thought it was - only maybe 15mm outside the arch (!).

I reckon - turn a load of ally spacers up at about 15mm and use a length of scorpio door seal to bridge the gap.

Might not be the prettiest but after SVA I can always just take the spacers off and run with pokey outy wheels??!!

What say you?

Or a piece of MDF profiled to match the wheel arch.
