Anyone know if the racetech or Spa centre mirrors are SVA ok?

Was going to get a GTS carbon job but doesn't do them any more.

my car went through the SVA with a SPA centre mirror on.

Where did you get it and how much?

tom_loughlin - 9/6/05 at 02:08 PM

im after exactly the same, but am amazed at the price of the carbon jobbies!!

gutted darren doesnt do em anymore.

if you see one for a half decent price, could you let me know, ive looked at europa and SPA, and dont think i can stretch to £150 for a rear sodding mirror.

Tom

I know what you mean. I have a pair of the Carbon racetech mirrors ready for post SVA so really wanted a carbon centre.

exactly the same as me - im my haste to build one of these cars 2 years ago, the first thing i bought was a pair of carbon side mirrors - but the stupid thing is that i dont even have an sva friendly set yet?

i reckon a load of us should chip in, and buy a complete set of everything (lights, indicators, mirrors, pedals etc..) for SVA, then pass them on to the next person when were done.

anyone in? (could even start a poll)

Tom

Why arent SPA ones SVA friendly ? thought they'd be OK as they are inside the edge of the vehicle ?

The area does not fit the 70mm high requirement.

I have a set of chrome single stem side mirrors that are the same fixing as the racetechs, with round mirror that hopefully will pass as they are about 250mm long! Can pass them on for £10 if you want?

Jasper passed with an spa center mirror (carbon) he put a bit of the rubber edge trim on the edges of the mirror to make sure, it didnt' look out of place and i think he even left it on afterwards..

Ned.

ps see you tonight Ben

My car went through the SVA with the SPA centre post mirror (flat lens) and the SPA GT/Le Mans side mirrors (convex lens). The side mirrors are slightly smaller than the SVA requirement so it was borderline (the inspector mentioned this). At the test the requirements for rear vision were only just met. However,I fitted the aeroscreen after the test and the mirrors were mounted higher and now they are much better.

bought direct from

http://www.spa-direct.co.uk/mirrors/formulaseries.htm

ps you need to glue some rubber edging strip on them too as they don't meet the min radius for SVA.

I *would* think I was just being smutty and immature and would let it slide.... but I know you too well!

I think it's the little wink(!) that gives it away!
