Lolocost nose cone fitting

Anyone any tips on where to start with a Lolocost nose cone?

Shall I line up the bottom edge with the centre of the lower front suspension brackets and keep "hinging" it back from there until the flange the bonnet will sit on is parallel to the top chassis rail?

is the bonnet on yet? Try balancing it on a pile of books to get it to the right height, and see where the lower edge ends up.

On mine, the radiator sits on a small bar at the front, i hinged mine onto this and it all worked well. except for the bonnet, obviously...

Not doing bonnet yet.

Was going to do nose and then fit the MK scuttle and build the bonnet around those two.

All the pics I see in Uncle Rons book have the lower edge of the nose cone in line with the bolts for the bottom front wishbone brackets.

Might be easie to sort a hinge out now and then chop the upper edges of the cone of accordingly until it sits on the top chassis rails.

Hi Pat
i have only seen pictures of the nose cone you mention but two things come to mind , firstlya s youa re building a BEC , the amount clearance you need between your engine and the bonnet should help you work out the hight of the nose cone . and I tend to think that a gap between the bottom of the nose cone and the chassis looks really tacky IMHO. So perhaps you should fit your scuttle first andd then you can adjust your nose cone so it sits as low as possible and still gives you a bonnet line that clears the engine . I thought about hinging the nose cone on mine but in the end thought that it was unnecessary complication, because how often to you really need to acess the stuff in there? ( I plan a filler for the cooling system at the rear of the engine bay )
Best wishes

Hey Pat:

I agree with Ian: Fit the scuttle first, then the bonnet, then the nose. If you're making a bonnet from ali, you could fit the nose before the bonnet.

The thing is, the scuttle has a very particular place. If your nose cose is a 1/4" too far forward, who cares? If the scuttle is 1/4" off, you'll see it immediately.
