Gents – Can the nose cone be fitted a few inches forward on the chassis??
Using the pinto unit with a shortened sump is still a tad higher than the front of the nose, so if it's poss to move it a few inches forward I can then play around with the bonnet and not worry about the nose cone.
Any other ideas??

I don't think a couple of inches would look too bad.

Is the engine in? maybe you could move it back( might help the weight distribution too)

As a matter of interest, how tall is a pinto engine? I used to hae one but never measured it, and nobody I know has one that I can check.

I have moved the engine back around 4in and to my last calc the engine sat around 8in from the chassis (1½in below). The nose cone sits at around 7½in high, so either I add an extra inch to the chassis or move the nose forward.

You could increase the height of the chassis by adding 25mm stock only where the nosecone sits. Might not look good, but may be an option.

There's a manufacturer in the states making a nosecone that is 8.5" tall... a full inch above the standard. www.championmotorcars.com (no affiliation or business relationship other than a happy customer).

I've tried to get round this problem by making my own scuttle, bonnet and nose cone in fibreglass, I've tried to make it slightly longer and higher but with curves in the right places to go over the taller parts of the engine, I might still need a couple of power bulges for the carbs or I could go the side draught route. I'm also making the nose cone and bonnet one peice to help keep the lines smooth.

I'll have to see how it turns out before I recommend it to anyone.
