Two Part Bonnet?
The Doc - 11/9/05 at 05:39 PM

Hi Folks,
Just wondered if anybody had managed to make a half decent job of making a bonnet from more than one piece. I have plenty of ali left but the biggest bit is about 20 mm too f....ing short. I wasn't thinking of a hinge down the middle (as is featured in Ron's book) perhaps some sort of louvre running the length of it. Just seems a shame to have to buy another sheet and end up with even more 'off cuts'. And - I'm tight!

Any ideas?

Take a look at Fozzie's archive for inspiration, that's the proper way of doing things.

Jonti has a split bonnet with a long hinge running down the middle, he may have some pics in his archive. It looked really good.

I havent seen him on the forum in a while.

Did mine in 2 parts for the simple reasons of a) it was easier than doing it in one,b) cocked up the first one then ran out of ally and couldnt be arsed buying another sheet,.
Used a piano hinge from B&Q, personally I think it makes more sense but there again I would say that wouldnt I.
Cheers,
Bob
